World We Dare to Imagine Part 3

The Ethan O’Keeffe Foundation –  Campus Gardens In today’s sprawling urban cities, recreational spaces become more and more limited. The green that once flourished has been replaced with the grays of pavement and the browns of brick walls. The Ethan O’Keeffe Foundation – Campus Gardens was created to combat the transition from the natural world to the industrial world. Nationwide, campuses are placed in central population hubs to accommodate students with the best resources and appeal to a larger depth of potential applicants. Unfortunately, because large campuses are found in cities, they suffer from the same urbanized fate of limited recreational green spaces. Campus Gardens aims to create more designated recreational green spaces within campuses and especially community gardens that students, faculty, and community members can work together to maintain, nurture, and appreciate together. In my World We Dare to Imagine Together Part 1, I talk about how important the natural wo...

World We Dare to Imagine Part 1

World We Dare to Imagine Part 1 In a world that I dare to imagine, I would be Mr. Roger’s neighbor and everyone would be Mr. Rogers. Birds would never stop chirping, and yes, I mean day and night. They will never stop; I love birds chirping. People would be extremely friendly and there would be a powerful sense of community. People would greet each other with pleasantries in the street. “Good morning Tom! Wonderful weather we are having, innit!” You would hear that every morning and it would be true because the weather would always be wonderful. There would be an abundance of sunny, windless days. I would lie in the sun all afternoon and feel the sun on my arms. There would also be ice cream trucks and they would play really nice ice cream truck music and have really good ice cream, like peach or blackberry. And they would sell me frozen cookie dough to eat and nobody would say, “Hey, you’re gonna get salmonella.”  We would have neighborhood barbecues. Sometimes there would b...

A Guide of American Players for the 2022 World Cup  On May 31, 2022, the United States National Men’s soccer team played Costa Rica in World Cup 2022 Qualifying, losing 0-2. Fortunately, they only had to not lose by 6 goals or more to qualify for the World Cup, meaning that the United States will be returning to World Cup play this year after not qualifying in 2018. The 2022 World Cup will happen between November 21, 2022 and December 18, 2022 in Qatar. The draw for who plays in each group happened on April 01, 2022. The United States will be playing England, Iran, and the winner of Wale and Scotland/Ukraine, a berth which hasn’t been decided due to the conflict in Ukraine. It is entirely plausible that the United States could advance through this group to knockout stages of play, as the top 2 advance from each group. The USMNT is currently in the process of deciding who will represent the United States at the World Cup. A young roster filled with exciting prospects,...

Synopsis Road Out of Winter: An Apocalyptic Thriller by Alison Stine is a solutions journalism book that tells the story of Wylodine, who lives in an apocalyptic frozen world that has been impacted by climate change. Wylodine is a young marijuana farmer who decides to travel through the Appalachian mountains to California to find her mother. Her mother and step-father had left a year earlier as the weather had begun to worsen, with the intention to return. In the year that the novel occurs, spring never sprung, life never bloomed, and chaos was set upon society. There were food and water shortages, schools and businesses closed because they couldn’t afford to heat the buildings, and people began to leave Wylodine’s Appalachian town to search for better. Soon, there was a full collapse of government, the fall of radio and internet, and near anarchy. Wylodine travels with a misfit band of “orphans”: Grayson, whose parents left with the cult-like church, Dance, whose parents weren’t...

AMDP Investment Proposal Final

To : Clark Hansen, CEO, AMDP From: Ethan O’Keeffe, Research and Development Analyst, AMDP Date: March 11, 2022 Subject: Investment Opportunity: Aether Diamonds Following extensive market research on potential investment opportunities, I am pleased to recommend Aether Diamonds as an investment opportunity for AMDP. Aether is an award-winning climate tech startup that uses an alchemization process to pull pollution from the air and transform it into diamonds. Founded in 2018, Aether is a young company experiencing promising and rapid growth patterns. Their company philosophy aligns perfectly with AMDP standards: to actively build a future where we generate our own renewable energy sources (Aether).  Investing in a high commodity company like Aether not only offers us great returns but allows us to become part of a forward-thinking movement that is ambitiously proving itself as a vehicle for social change. AMDP Investment Standards As a research and development analyst at AMDP, I look...

The Reason I Chose To Read This Book I selected to read from the solutions journalism books Road Out of Winter: An Apocalyptic Thriller by Alison Stine. Road Out of Winter details the story of Wylodine, who lives in an apocalyptic frozen world that has been impacted by climate change. Wylodine is a young marijuana farmer who decides to travel through the mountains to California to find her mother. I thought from YesMagazine’s list of “11 Books to Give and Share'' that this one sounded the most exciting. I have always liked to read post-apocalyptic and dystopian novels in the past so I thought that Road Out of Winter aligned with the type of content that I like. I also thought it would be a good read after our experiences writing the AMDP Proposal because my company of interest is extremely concerned with climate change and reducing carbon dioxide pollution in order to prevent a scenario like the one that Road Out of Winter is set in. I think the idea of a “cli-fi” sub-genre of ...
